I don't know the exact reason why this movie got mixed reviews. I thought it was a great remake of a classic. The ambiance is there with a lot of fog and darkness, the actors deliver big time (especially Anthony Hopkins!) and the story is the classic.
The movie is actually quite startling, as they'll use the normal Hollywood scare and then do another one out of nowhere right after the first predictable one.
I liked it and it definitely gets a thumbs up. And the transformation scenes :) wow
