The Temper Trap - Sweet Disposition (live @ Jimmy Kimmel)
The song is cool, but I didn't believe they could pull it out live. Guess I was wrong :)

Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel
This is one of those movies that probably won't make it to the Portuguese cinemas. It's a British comedy with one of my favourite UK actors, Chris O'Dowd ( IT Crowd, The Boat That Rocked). The trailer is a bit too revealing, but as I had watched it way back in the June, I didn't remember it :). It's a really funny movie, and I recommend it. The concept of having 3 average drinkers trying to deal with time travelling is neatly pulled out. For once I'll have to agree with the headlines... it really feels like "Shaun of the Dead" meets "Dr. Who".

Surrogates
The concept of the movie is quite interesting, but the plot is soooooooo predictable... It's entertaining, but don't expect much action... every single action scene is in the trailer. The feeling I got was that it was a movie ment to make you think, but not too much :P I recomend it if you got time to kill because of the concept...

Kaki King - Pull Me Out Alive
I first got to know Kaki King for her guitar performance on the song "Playing with Pink Noise". I downloaded her album expecting a guitar filled album, and found it to be quite balanced. The single taken from the album was this "Pull Me Out Alive"... it's ok, but the album has much more to give. Below, her guitar performance extraordinaire:

Knowing
I became interested in Alex Proyas movies after I watched "The Crow" and "Dark City" in my teens. I definitely like the ambience that his movies have. I even liked "I, Robot" because of that same "what is going on?" feeling. I didn't much like the ending, not in its content but in the way it was presented.
It's a good movie, especially if you, like me, like watching these sci fi movies and trying to make some sense out of it. Don't expect action. BUT the natural disaster scenes are AWESOME!
Patrice - Africanize Dem (live @ Paris 2006)
Great musicians perform well live. Patrice is no exception. This song has that rock feeling mixed with a great reggae voice that makes it stand out.

If you don't have the patience, watch the second one. If you do, watch them both. One of the best HIMYM moments ever!

A great and very interesting interview! An original take on future predicting using deductive thinking. This actually makes sense, as long as you throw in variations due to human volition.
The day I dropped the K, or, Gone Ubuntu
Two days ago I updated my Kubuntu to the beta release 9.10. 2 updates later, I'd fried Kubuntu. I used a recovery disk, got all my stuff to my portable hd and fired Ubuntu beta 9.10.
Performance - Ubuntu is better, even running on a ext3 file system... I'll probably fry everything and install it from scratch on ext4 partition in order to get the real advantage in speed Ubuntu advertises
Stability - I hope it'll be better than Kubuntu... everthing points in that direction
User Interface - Ubuntu wins yet again
Note - remove Empathy ASAP, it crashed like 10 times in 3 minutes... I'll be sticking with Pidgin for quite some time to come.

Taking Woodstock
I've seen movies and documentaries about Woodstock... but you never really get the feeling of how big it was. This movie makes you feel like you're participating in the creation of the greatest concerts ever. And instead of describing the vibe, it just shows you what it was all about. Great
Demetri Martin turns out to be a great actor! And Liev Schreiber makes one hell of a funny bodyguard. The movie is not hillarious, but it's an happy movie. But a bit long and slow paced... but I guess that's part of the idea :)
Dragonball Evolution
This was one that I decided to watch it only when I was totally tired and with 0 energy. After a crazy day using several different technologies and equipments, I got home and put it on.
There goes another great story down the drain... and the crappy special fx... the actors... everything is poor, except for the humor. If they had spent a little more money and taken more than 3 months to make it, they could actually have pulled it. BUT it just totally SUCKS!

Gantz movie on its way???
LINK
I have to say I am psyched about this. It's just the best manga ever made. I have to say the anime is a bit of a let down, mainly due to animation quality. But the story is completely crazy and original. I agree with some of the comments on the post @ toplessrobot.com: they will have to create a new rating just for this movie, because it has all levels of violence you can imagine. Or maybe they'll tone it downa bit, ruining the concept.
Anyway, it's the ONLY manga I'm collecting. It's original to the point of being a piece of unique culture. So pleeeease oh please don't fuck it up...

The Burning Plain
This Burning Plain has three things going for it: the way the story is told and the romantic duo Kim Bassinger/Joaquim de Almeida, the story.
The first: the story is told alternating between the past-past, the past and the present. It's up to the viewer to order it, but I thought it to be rather easy, making the story quite predictable.
The second: never thought I'd say this, but they made a real passionate duo on screen.
The third: it's about two complicated love stories, with a lot of tough subjects thrown in the middle, and a lot of things you'd not expect from a romantic movie. It's definitely not a happy movie.
It's a good movie. I think great movies will make you sit back on a sunday afternoon and watch it on TV. I don't see myself doing that 4 years from now.

Kasabian - Fast Fuse
OH BABY I WAS BOOOOOOOOOORN... WITH A FAST FUSE. By 1:44 you'll get the purest classic rock n roll sound I've heard recently. Don't know the band, just this song... the guys look like the Kelly Family runaways, but they do know how to rock

Yo La Tengo - Periodically Double or Triple
Yo La Tengo are the mainstream band of the underground scene... they've been around for ages, and their last album is pretty good! I chose this one because I liked the distorted keyboards.
